ZOSTERIGEL was subjected to new assessments on human skin and demonstrated its protective properties against the toxic action of heavy metals and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons commonly founded in urban polluted air.

On human ex-vivo skin, the product ZOSTERIGEL, made by APIOMARINE:

- protects the epidermis structure alterated by the air pollutants (assessment of the general morphology in histological sections) ;

- significantly reduces the MDA level (marker of the lipidic peroxydation of cell membranes) increased by the exposure to the mixture of pollutants ;

- and down-regulates the AhR (Aryl hydrocarbon Receptor) expression stimulated by the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.

ZOSTERIGEL is a unique vegetal active obtained from Zostera nolti (oceanic plant) from the Arcachon Bay. It is composed of a very specific polysaccharidic fraction with a high level in Apiogalacturonan (pectin naturally greffed with D-apiose which is a rare monosaccharide with innovative biological activities).
